A brief history of the Chicago Great Western route to Kansas City:

06/26/21

Located near the whistle stop of Santiago, this small beam and trestle bridge crosses Ditch #38.
Little is known about the history of the bridge, although it appears that the beam span was installed to replace two or three other trestle spans, possibly in the 1970s. The beam span is approached by trestle on either side, and sits on steel pilings.
It is possible that the beam also may have come from somewhere else. Empty holes at the end of the span possibly indicate this.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in fair condition, with some deterioration noted on the timber components of the bridge.

The author has ranked the bridge as being minimally significant, due to the common design.
